Building opposition to the cuts is depedant upon shattering this lie - people will accept them so long as they believe there is an emergency. I hate drawing Nazi paralells, but I cannot help but feel that this is the Reichstag fire of the super rich: a crisis deliberately created and exaggerated by a political group in order to force the most extreme parts of their agenda upon a momentarily dazed public.
