Normalisation, criminalisation and Ulsterisation are all major parts of British imperialisms strategy in occupied Ireland, therefore the republican position is clearly to oppose them whilst being entirely realistic about the republican capacity, currently, to do that. I oppose British terrorisms campaign of terror, do you Pingu? Are you a socialist and an anti-imperialist?

i can understand why there's discontent with the GFA, but is 'smashing normalisation' really the right way of going about it? as this inevitably seems to suggest supporting the dissident organisations - I see you're in 32CSM. Do you support the Real IRA's campaign of terror, in that case? Is leaving a few bombs about the place and picking off a few police officers, with very little support among the nationalist community, really going to bring about a united Ireland?

Good Friday Agreement which is now superceded by the St Andrews agreement- both are frameworks of devolution with the carrot to Provos that they would allow power sharing and the potential for a united Ireland. The agreement put forward by British imperialism was essentialy onm the table in 1974 when it was called the Sunningdalw Agreement. Smash Stormont- end normalisation- An Phoblacht Abu.

Hey, fiannananananahalba!

Remember that most people who read this blog aren't as up to speed with political nerdiness and acronyms as you obviously are, so try to make your comments a wee bit more inclusive, please?

What on earth is the GFA?!!?

GAS and Water socialism is practiced and preached by the SP and SWP in British occupied Ireland and has been for 40 years, its result is that both organisations are still entirely miniscule and marginalised. The elephant in the room of Irish sovereignty is ignored. British imperialism has scored a mighty victory in the north through the GFA and has managed to maintain sectarianism whilst at the same time defeating the Provisionals and snaring them into constitutional nationalism and reformism based on a sectarian headcount- PSF are the new SDLP, the Catholic Party. Revolutionary republicanism and republicanism socialism are in the early stages of breaking the normalisation attempts of imperialism and developing combativity and a political alternative to imperialism and constitutional nationalism. It remains the case that breaking a large section of the unionist working class from imperialism and capitalism will require offering them a new Ireland built around the withdrawal of British government interference and the revolutionary change required in the 26 counties with the focus on a democratic socialist Ireland. Without confronting the question of imperialism and Irish sovereignty the SP, SWP and others on the left guarantee themselves another 40 years of irrelevance to the bulk of the working class in the north. Higgins and the SP and to a lesser extent the SWP in Dublin and the 26 counties have shown that there is a large constituency and pool of support for socialist ideas and politics in Ireland as Provisional Sinn Fein has recently found out to its cost. By the way its high time the SSP rejected the GFA.
