I really appreciate your article.

If you talk to many in the police from that time (D & G) I doubt you will find many that believe the conviction was justice. I do know (when I say know, that's the cattle market talk) that the American services were on the ground at the same time farmers were feeding sheep the next morning. Perhaps it was to pick up classified material, who knows????

I would not give any credence to the travellers cheque story I have seen elsewhere or I would have heard it from the horses mouth.

Unless I am mistaken Iran had very little love for Iraq at the time of the Gulf war so I am curious about your inference to a deal; granted it was a couple of years later and things happen in relationships.

If anything your article makes me wonder more that the real deal was Scotland let him go (and the idiot senetors are smokescreen) or we open up a can of worms that no one wants to imagine.

Keep up the good work.

I didn't know so much of this, thanks very much for the article!

I heard that even the UN think he's innocent - what's the deal with that?

This should be in the voice, if there hasn't been anything about it already.

Hi, glad you enjoyed the article. I could have put in some more stuff, but it was getting long as it is! There is plenty of more stuff available on Lockerbie by Paul Foot, Tam Dalyell etc.

I don't know if you've heard rumours or friend of a friend stories about Lockerbie, but theres also reports that massive quanitites of heroin was found in the wreckage. Some people (including Pan Ams investigation) have argued that the bomb was hidden in a drugs shipment, that was kept out of normal security procedures as part of a drugs for hostages deal with Iran.

Allegedly the CIA was letting Iran sell drugs into the US to secure the release of American hostages, and the bomb was protected from security by keeping it with the drug shipment.

Several US intelligence agents were on Pan Am 103 and died with the rest of the crew and passengers as well. I'd take that theory with a pinch of salt though, cos it may just be Pan Am making up bullshit to avoid being bankrupted for failing to detect a bomb.

I don't think the UN formally believes Megrahi is innocent but the UN did have a mission at the Lockerbie Trial led by a guy called Hans Koechler, who believes Megrahi is innocent and the verdict was a frame up.
